Thu : Airport Check in.
Everyone will go to the airport for the flights to Barcelona.
Overnight: En Route.

Fri Day 01: Arrive Barcelona.
Airport / Hotel. (Private transfer 30 minutes)
On arrival proceed through customs and meet our transfer representative. You will have some free time until 16:00hrs when you have an afternoon tour.
After dropping our baggage in our rooms, we will walk across the street to Barcelona’s subway system to board our Metro ride to the Passeig de Gracia Bouelvard which is one of the famous and most beautiful streets in the city of downtown Barcelona. The Students will board the metro and we will visit different areas of the pedestrian street. The wide boulevards on either side of Passeig de Gràcia add to the feeling of opulence that this road gives you. Passeig de Gràcia is also home to two of Gaudí’s most important creations here – La Pedrera and Casa Batlló. These are two apartment buildings with amazing architecture.
About two hours strolling will help you get over jetlag with fresh air and walking exercise.
The Students will end their wonderful walking exploration as they arrive at Casa Batllo & La Pedera for outside viewing and photos. Then continue on to Casa Mila.
Casa Mila (Entrance). The top floor, attic and the extraordinary roof are open to visitors. The apartment on the top floor gives an idea of how the interior must have looked at the beginning of the 20th century. Just like on the outside, the interior has virtually no straight lines. The attractive rooms have a lot of character, with a mixture of expressionist and Art Nouveau styles. The attic houses an exposition of Gaudí’s work. The roof is probably the most intriguing part of the building. It features a number of surrealistic colorful chimneys.
19:00hrs – 20:30hrs – Tapas dinner together
We will all be seated in our first meal in Spain. We have chosen your first dinner to be Tapas. This is a gastronomic experience since you will be served many different dishes. Enjoy traditional tapas, such as asesqueixada (salt-cod, tomato and onion salad) escalivada (chargrilled eggplant – aubergines, peppers and onions) and fuet and llonganissa (cured sausage). It is also one of the best places for tastes of Spanish paella. Usually sea food and rice.
20:30hrs – Our escort walks us to the Metro station where we board the subway and ride back to our hotel stop. Then we cross the street to our hotel for a good night’s sleep.
OUR HOTEL – The Hotel Altenas is a 4 star hotel in the center of Barcelona. Rooms are comfortable and the breakfasts are wonderful serving breads, buetters and jams, eggs anyway you like them, meats, yogurts, fruits, juices, coffees and water.
Overnight: The Hotel Atenas – Barcelona. (D)

Sat Day 02: Barcelona. (Full day tour to Figureres – 07:00hrs – 19:00hrs)
This morning fully rested, the students will have breakfast from 06:00hrs to 06:45hrs and then meet in the lobby at 06:45hrs.
07:00am – Coach loaded and we depart through the city to the highway and our driver heads north through the suburbs and into the countryside as we drive to the Costa Brava.
Our first destination is Figureres and the Dali Museum.
Arrive by 09:15hrs approximately and we will walk around to the entrance and await the opening at 09:30hrs.
09:30hrs – 11:30hrs – Two hour amazing tour of the Dali Museum. Our guide will lead us room to room and explain the wonderful explanations of this artist’s important work.
Salvador Dali and his wife Garda – Born in Figueres, Spain in 1904, Salvador Dali is known for his technical skill as a painter and the shocking quality of his imagination. His pioneering spirit was also accompanied by a reverence of tradition and a will for continuity. Dali consistently depicted the landscape of his homeland, one that became synonymous with the landscape of the imagination and of dreams. He forged in his long career a remarkable body of work, and his life demonstrates the richness of living creatively in every aspect of one’s existence.
Enjoy the unique and amazing art that is on display in the Museum.
11:30hrs – 12:30hrs – One hour free time to walk around the shops and the local Ramblas near the museum.
12:30hrs – 13:30hrs – Free time to have your lunch on your own account and return to the museum by 13:30hrs exactly for our coach departure.
13:30hrs – 14:00hrs – Our coach and guide will move us to the next stop – Dali’s museum of Jewels.
14:00hrs – 15:00hrs – One hour our guide will take us through this Museum of Dali’s Jewels. This gallery shows the collection of thirty-nine jewels in gold and precious stones and twenty-seven drawings and paintings on paper that Salvador Dalí made in designing the jewels between 1941 and 1970.
15:00hrs – 17:00hrs – We will load our coach and drive to nearby ocean town of Roses, where we will have time to sit on the beach and relax. This is the famous Costa Brava (beautiful coastline of northern Spain).
Don’t forget to pack your swim suit as we relax on the beach and enjoy some sun.
17:00hrs – 19:00hrs – Say goodbye to the northern area of Spain as we load our coach and drive back to the city. Our coach and driver will drop us at a typical restaurant in the city and we will take the metro back to our hotel. After dinner our escort leads us to the Metro subway back to our hotel and walk back across the street and have a good night’s rest.
19:00hrs – 20:30hrs – Dinner together at a typical restaurant in Barcelona.
Overnight: The Hotel Atenas – Barcelona. (B,D)

Sun Day 03: Barcelona. (Full day Cultural tour of city of Barcelona 08:00hrs – 20:00hrs)
Breakfast from 07:00hrs – 07:45hrs. Please be in the lobby at 07:45hrs to load our coach.
07:45hrs – 08:30hrs – We load our coach and set out for the city’s magnificent highlights.
08:30hrs – 09:00hrs – Ciutadella Park. The Parc de la Ciutadella is Barcelona’s most central park. The park includes a zoo, a lake, a large fountain and several museums. The Catalan Parliament is seated in a building at the center of the park. The thirty hectare (74 acre) large park forms a green oasis close to the always crowded historic center of Barcelona. The park is laid out nicely with wide promenades, colorful flowerbeds and many palm trees. There’s much to see here: fountains and sculptures decorate the park while several interesting buildings will catch the eye of architecture buffs. There’s plenty to do as well; the park’s small lake is a popular spot where you can hire a rowing boat, there are several museums in the park and the zoo is a popular attraction.
As we stroll through the park, have a look at the gardens, the fountains, parliament buildings nearby and then exit along a pedestrian street as we walk to our next stop.
09:00hrs – 9:30hrs – The Arc de Triumph.
Stop for photos – The Arc de Triomf is an archway structure in Barcelona. It was built for the Barcelona Exposition in 1988, as its main access gate by architect Josep Casanovas. The arch is built in reddish brickwork in the Moorish Revival style. The front frieze frieze contains the stone sculpture “Barcelona rep les nacions” Catalan for “Barcelona welcomes the nations”) by Josep Reynes. The opposite frieze contains a stone carving named “Recompense”, a work from the earliest period of Josep Limona.
9:30hrs – 11:00hrs – Transbordador Aeri Del Port Cable Car. This morning, an incredible treat awaits all of us as we travel to the Barcelona Port and board the famous Cable car which crosses the city and gives you spectacular views on the cross city and climb up to the Mountain. This is a great option for everyone as we go from the Transbordador and travel further up the mountain to see the beautiful castle and the stunning views from the top. So we will take two cable cars.
11:00hrs – 11:30hrs – Olympic Stadium Barcelona At the top, we will pass by the Olympic Stadium of Barcelona which was ready in 1929 but history decided something different. It is in 1992 that this stage was finally used. Meanwhile Correa, Milà, Margarit, Buixadé, Gregoretti architects of different nationalities had collaborated in its rebuilding.
We will also stop for photographs and admire the interesting weird looking tower – which is a Cellular Tower in Barcelona, pictured here. After a short visit we drive down to the Barcelona beach area called Maritime Plaza.
12:00hrs / 12:30hrs – Drive to Maritime Plaza
12:30hrs – 13:30hrs – LUNCH BREAK – MARITIME PLAZA on the beach. Here is an inexpensive place to have lunch on your own account. Many places to buy some lunch.
13:30hrs – 14:30hrs – We will make our way walking along the beach where you can see Barcelona beach artists and their sand castles. Our bus will pick us at near the Fish.
THE FISH SCULPTURE – It has become a symbol of the post-Olympic Barcelona. The big goldfish seems to float above the Mediterranean Sea.
The sun is reflected on the golden scales of the fish-shaped sculpture that dominates the coastline and beaches of the Olympic Port of Barcelona. Designed by Frank O. Gehry
14:30hrs – 16:30hrs – The Picasso Museum – our coach winds through the city and brings us to another remarkable museum. The Picasso Museum in Barcelona is a key reference for understanding the formative years of Pablo Ruiz Picasso. The genius of the young artist is revealed through the 4,249 works that make up the permanent collection. Furthermore, the Museu Picasso, opened in 1963, also reveals his deep relationship with Barcelona: an intimate, solid relationship that was shaped in his adolescence and youth, and continued until his death.
16:30hrs / 18:00hrs – Las Arenas. Barcelona’s famed Las Arenas stadium — and its bloody bull-fighting past — have been transformed into a remarkable commercial complex by Architect Richard Rogers. Built in the 19th century, the stadium fell into disrepair in the 1990s as the popularity of bull fighting declined. However, the city of Barcelona saw the cultural and historical significance of the complex, and hired Rogers to reinvent the stadium with a massive renovation. Rogers sought to re-establish the ring as an important landmark for Barcelona by preserving the façade and gutting the inside for new purposes. The ground levels were developed to host a bevy of retails stores, restaurants and offices. The ground floor plazas also connect to the popular nearby Parc Joan Miro. Spend an hour here perusing the shops for curios and taking photos.
18:30hrs – 19:00hrs – Walk over to Joan Miro Park where you will be able to see the sculptures. Covering four city blocks, this expansive park consists of two levels. The lower level is landscaped with pine, palm, fragrant eucalyptus trees and a pergola covered in wisteria and bougainvillea. The upper level is paved and contains the park’s crowning glory, one of Joan Miró’s last sculptures, entitled Dona i Ocell (Woman and Bird).
19:00hrs – 20:30hrs – Dinner at a typical restaurant near the Museum.
21:00 – 21:45hrs – The Fountains of Montjuic – Magic Fountains.
Tonight at exactly 21:00hrs – the Montjuic fountains will explode with music and color as we get to enjoy the scene in front of us.
21:45hrs – At this time, you will be back at the exact meeting point and we all walk to the subway and ride the Metro back to our hotel reaching around 22:00hrs in time for a good night’s rest.
Overnight: The Hotel Atenas – Barcelona. (B,D)

15:30hrs – 16:45hrs – We will first visit the park opposite the Cathedral to give everyone a photo opportunity and then proceed inside with our guide to enjoy the exterior of the remarkable building. Then we line up and visit inside as our guide walks us through the fantastic interior.
La Sagrada Familia is one of Gaudi’s most famous works in Barcelona. It’s a giant Basilica that has been under construction since 1882 (that’s not a typing error!) and it’s not expected to be completed for between 30 to 80 years (time for completion varies depending on different sources of information) Much controversy surrounds the building of the Sagrada Familia.
Today new construction materials are being used which, some feel, Gaudí himself would not have used.
When you visit the building you will see the contrast in the stone color between the front and back of the building. Also the actual style of construction appears somewhat different between the new and old parts of the building. Inside the buidling are spectacular colors and architecture.
17:00hrs – 18:00hrs – Free time for souvenirs or to walk around the complete Cathedral.
18:00hrs – 19:30hrs. Proceed to our restaurant which is near Sagrada Familia for dinner together.

Park Guell was commissioned by Eusebi Guell who wanted to create a stylish park for Barcelona aristocracy. Gaudi was also hired to create his art in the park.
The park contains amazing stone structures (see below), stunning tiling and fascinating buildings. You can see from this picture the Gaudí dragon fountain that is at the entrance to Güell Park. This dragon is adorned in beautiful colored tiling and there is something rather hypnotic and magical about it.
Park Güell also has a small house in the park which Gaudí lived in at one stage. The house has now been converted into a museum and contains interesting furniture also designed by Gaudí.
You will find lots of Ceramic dragons, fountains, park benches all made from pieces of ceramic.
What someone might throw away if it breaks, Gaudi would use it to creak a masterpiece of modern art.

Best known apart from the capital, Barcelona, is of course the Mediterranean coast, Costa Brava and Costa Dorada with ample beaches and mild climate, doubtlessly a first rate touristical attraction. One shouldn’t forget anyhow that Catalonia offers as well high mountain ranges, the Pyrenees in the north, the curious formations of Montserrat, the inactive volcanoes of Garrotxa, and a wide plain area in the region’s center.
Catalonia has a very marked culture of its own, most evidently of Mediterranean tradition, and is distinguished of most other Spanish regions in several aspects, not at least by its language, Catalonian(although everybody speaks and understands Castilian Spanish perfectly). Certainly it is one of the most cosmopolitan places in Spain, thanks to its tradition of international commerce.
The coast offers ideal facilities for all sorts of water sports, but everywhere you will realize about that special talent to combine the beauty of nature or monuments with modern attractions, a main reason why Catalonia developed into one of the preferred touristic destinations. Catalonia’s excellent gastronomy is characterized by seafood, rice dishes, wines of great international reputation and traditional desserts like the famous “Catalonian Cream”.
09:30hrs – 11:00hrs –Catalonia in-depth – The Padre Students are all from Catalonia and the teachers will present a class today on Catalonia, so you will understand the culture of this region.
11:00hrs – 11:30hrs – School break, now you will go to the playground and meet your buddies for a half hour break together.
11:30hrs – 12:15hrs. Back to meeting rooms where each student will have more art instructions.
12:15hrs – 12:30hrs – washroom breaks.
12:30hrs – 13:30hrs – Lunch in the school cafeteria. Say goodbye to your buddies as Student Group leaves for downtown cooking class.
13:30hrs – 14:30hrs – Drive to the Boqueria Market Las Ramblas City Center.
14:30hrs – 18:00hrs – Boqueria Market – Purchase ingredients for cooking class.
Above the Boqueria market are private rooms which have been arranged for cooking classes. Perfect location as we buy our fresh foods and then go upstairs to cook.
Upon arrival at the market, the cooking class staff will split the group into teams, where you will go with a cooking class teacher through the market, with clear instructions of what needs to be purchased.
The cooking class staff have the money and you will help pick out what we need to cook up an incredible Paella dish this afternoon & evening.
What a fun afternoon buying the ingredients that your cooking class teachers have given you.
After completing the list, we proceed to the upper levels of the market where we will then prepare the vegetables by washing and cleaning, getting the spices ready, chopping the onions and getting the paella meats or fish ready. After it is cooked we dine on the Paella dishes.
18:00hrs – 19:00hrs
Enjoy walking back out through the market where you can buy some desert or right outside the market on Las Ramblas we will go together with your teachers and
Be able to buy an ice cream and another fine walk along Las Ramblas.
