Day 1.Fri. En Route / Arenal.

Proceed to your fly to Liberia, Costa Rica. No visa required. Once you arrive into Liberia, meet your guide and load the private vehicle with your luggage and the driver will transfer you approximately 3 hours north to Arenal. Washroom / coffee break half way.

Day 2. Sat. Arenal.

Arenal is a place that begs to be explored; rivers wind through bountiful rainforests, waterfalls crash amidst inspiring canyons, and hot springs gurgle up beneath the base of an impressive volcano. Meet your guide in the lobby at 7:45am to load everyone and drive a short distance to Peñas River. Here we enjoy the sights and the sounds of the rainforest and experience its peacefulness and quietly float along the Peñas Blancas River. Monkeys, sloths, iguanas, crocodiles and numerous tropical birds await us! Our professional bilingual guide will share with you educational and interesting explanations of the plants and animals we encounter on the float.

When the tour finishes we will have a short 15 – 30 minutes visit to a local farm to see how rural life in Costa Rica is. Soon afterwards, we are escorted by our guide and driver to a nearby local restaurant in proximity to the area we are floating and visiting farms, for a typical Costa Rican style included lunch. Return to the resort by around 1:00pm and you will have the remainder of the day at your leisure. Check with the guide for the optional Kite surfing on the lake.

Day 3. Sun. Arenal.

Our driver will pick you up at the reception to enjoy an unforgettable adventure tour. You will see some of the best views of the Arenal rainforest on a kilometer long, open–air gondola ride up the mountains! The only way up to the zip lining adventure is to use the cable car gondola with spectacular views all the way up.  This adrenaline filled adventure tour allows you to glide along cables as high as 524 feet (50 stories) at speeds reaching 40 mph with continuous runs of up to 2,500 feet (1/2 mile).  On the longest cable it takes 50 seconds to complete the run.

After a delicious lunch you will have the Arenal Volcano National Park hike which is one of the most popular tours in La Fortuna. Get as close as possible to the volcano while hiking through well-maintained paths that weave through the lush Costa Rican rainforest. Your nature guide will point out exotic plants and wildlife and explain the history of this fascinating volcano and area of Costa Rica. This is a must see for nature lovers and bird watchers!

Day 4. Mon. Arenal.

You will be transferred by private vehicle to the lake and then board a private boat charter for approximately one hour to take us across to Monte Verde area. Admire the beautiful views of all of the mountains, sky and the colossal Arenal volcano itself on our way across the lake.  When you reach the other side of the lake, you’ll be picked up and driven to Montverde. For those who also enjoy a more scenic experience above the cloud forest canopy, you’ll love the hanging bridges! Designed for bird-watchers and nature lovers alike, the hanging bridges offer stunning views of the Cloud Forest and its inhabitants.

When you finish, enjoy a delicious traditional lunch and then you will have a shorter hike in the Monteverde Reserve. As we end our afternoon hike, our guide will bring us back to the Arenal Lake crossing to board our boat and then back to the doorstep of your La Fortuna hotel before the day is done at around 6:00pm.

Day 5.  Tue. Arenal / Playa Panama.

After breakfast this morning you will check out of your lodge and drive south west to Playa Panama, Guanacaste. There will be washroom and coffee break along the way as this is a long drive through the lovely countryside.On arrival you will check into your new hotel on the coast, head for lunch together, and then decide if you wish the afternoon off and remainder of the day at your leisure. All meals and local bar drinks included.

Day 6. Wed. Playa Panama.

Enjoy your time at the Mangroove with activities to be arranged with the resort. Extra costs may apply for some optional activities. Non-motorized sports are complimentary. Make your pick, land or water… For sweat lovers keep up your own routine at an exotic location. El Mangroove offers private and group yoga classes upon request and a multifunctional gym that is open 24 hours. If you are inspired by the ocean take a stand up paddle session, go kayaking, go fishing, go surfing or simply go beach hopping with our onsite boats. Feeling like knowing the area, bicycles are also available for guest use. Reservations can be made through the hotel Concierge.

This morning you will check out and be privately transferred to Liberia airport for your international flights home. ( B)

 Please note: There is a $29 USD departure tax payable at the airport with USD/Costa Rican cash or VISA, MasterCard or American Express. This tax must be paid before you check in for your flight. This cannot be prepaid and must be paid in person at the airport, however some airline tickets already include this. We will advice before departure.
