Wed Day 06: Ubud – Morning Visit Green School Ubud – Afternoon transfer to Sanur and change hotels.

This morning we have a later start than other earlier mornings and finish breakfast and check out.

Our guide will arrive with our coach and driver and assist with check out formalities as we load our coach with our baggage. Then we will drive to the Green School. This school is aptly named as it is an environment friendly campus made from bamboo. Enjoy an article from the New York Times (Nov 2017) recently on the Green School in Bali.

The morning school run proceeds, at first glance, like any number of demographically adjacent — affluent, socially progressive, private — school runs the world over: There are lithe yoga moms, dads with beards and the occasional man bun, kids with Messi jerseys and top-heavy backpacks. There are hurried embraces and pods of parents, to-go lattes in hand, swapping information and gossip. This boisterous procession — from filing past the security guard to the mass exodus when the first-period bell sounds — takes 10 minutes before calm descends.

The Green School Soccer Field

Upon arrival at the school, we will enjoy a Jalan Jalan (Indonesian for ‘a walk’) around the beautiful bamboo campus.  In addition to the famous architecture, you’ll learn about their sustainability practices and what it’s like to be a Green School student in this progressive and wall-less place of learning.

Your Jalan Jalan tour leader, will be chosen by the principal who may be a staff member, parent, or student, and their job will be to guide you around the campus while sharing the Green School story and answering your questions. What will be your favorite?  Aquaponics, the majestic bridge, the micro-hydro vortex, or the Green School music you’re sure to hear in the background!

Late this afternoon, we will say goodbye to the mountains and make our way down to the plains and the Ocean towns and villages. The drive is an hour and we find ourselves checking in around 15:30hrs with a couple of hour’s free time with your teachers to discover our new hotel.

Overnight: The Artotel Sanur (B-L-D)

Dinner will be served at our hotel this evening. (BLD)

Overnight: The Artotel Sanur

Fri Day 08: Ubud – (Community Service Outreach with young students)

After breakfast we will visit a school in our beach area of Sanur.

Today is a half day of community service. We will visit a local school with grades of Year 3, 4, 5 and 6. Travel by coach to our school and spend the morning from 09:00hrs to 12:00hrs in various classrooms, teaching the students conversational English.

Work with local children as an assistant teacher teaching English, Sport and Games in a local school. You can teach a variety of English based subjects, and you’ll also be able to teach whole classes on your own if you wish. In all classrooms, the home room teacher will be there to assist you and translate if necessary.

Balinese children rarely get to practice conversational English skills or hear native English being spoken so you will be very well received. You will have plenty of support and encouragement to be creative and show students that learning English is fun.

At lunch time, we will say goodbye to the students and the school staff and board our coach and transfer back to the hotel.

Lunch will be at typical Balinese restaurant and then back at our hotel, you can enjoy the afternoon free at leisure. You can enjoy the facilities of the resort or walking around of the resort to enjoy the Sanur atmosphere.

Overnight: The Artotel Sanur (B-L-D)

Sat Day 9: Denpasar Bali / Hong Kong / USA
